This post from my RSS feeds caught my eye today. There have been plenty of "beer is bad" type hysteria in the media in the UK, it makes a change to see a club being used in a positive way.

As a Christian I certainly haven't shielded myself from the pub and booze scene, in fact I've enjoyed a few pints. I believe it's all about not taking it to the extreme and a lot a young (and old) people I come across don't go to the extreme. Sure you get the odd 20 year old taking it a bit too far and not respecting people around, but talking to them calmly usually sorts things out.

So get out there and talk!

I caught a news article from the Church of England website yesterday entitled 'Read and hear all about it monthly e-news bulletin and podcasts, too', the summary indicated podcasts were on the way.

How dissapointed I was when I realised it was just a few speeches!

It got me thinking how poor the CofE and Anglican community is at using new technology, it makes me think that the stereotypes are true and the most cutting edge thing they (I should say we here as I attend a CofE Church!) is pull out the six string (acoustic) guitar and blast out the riffs of the latest (1980) hit from Mission Praise!

I mean who's seen Abundant Life Church (www.alm.org.uk) has great audio and visuals in their services, check out a service on the GOD channel on SKY. Then there is SQPN (www.sqpn.com) who I've mentioned before (Catholic). Where are the Anglicans?

If you know, comment here!

Disney announced this last week that all seven of the Narian books are to be released as films.

I've never actually ready the books [shock] but really enjoyed the first film (which was not the first book I believe), apparently the second film is going to be the fourth book! Confused? So am I.

The stories are obviously based on Christian themes, but then there are Christian themes to be found in a lot of mainstream films like Star Wars, Harry Potter etc. But then I guess C S Lewis wrote them in on purpose.

Here's my source for the story:

I've been thinking quite a lot over the last year or so about by career. I remember back in my early twenties when I was really driven to move on in my career, switching jobs to move on.

Now I'm not sure I'm going fast enough, but the dilemma is the balance or more importantly the most important thing. I now have a family, they need more of my time. But at the back of my mind there has always been this nagging doubt that I've stopped pushing my career.

I remember a saying occasionally "there are plenty of people who look back on life and say 'I wish I'd spent more time with the kids', people never say 'I wish I spent more time at work'"

Then I came across and episode of the Daily Breakfast podcast (www.dailybreakfast.com) on the SQPN network (www.sqpn.com). It was episode #341. It was just what I was after, hit the nail on the head!

Take a listen, it's about 26mins or so in!
